In-Home Care and Companionship Services

All clients utilize a combination of our services in a way that is unique to them. We work with each individual client to create individualized service plan to meet their specific needs. Below you will find an outline of some of our basic services. We offer both hourly services, starting at as little as one hour and extending to 24 hours a day, as well as live-in care. Please contact an office staff member to discuss your specific needs and we can held determine what services and schedule are right for you.

Home Care Assessments

Home Care Assessments are an important part of planning for long term living at home. We offer both Skilled Care Assessments by an RN and Need Assessments by a service coordinator. Our initial informational phone call can help you decide which of these assessments is appropriate for your specific situation. Assessments can be useful in planning ongoing long term care at home and for deciding the best care plan for our home health services. This is an additional service we can offer our clients and assessments can be arranged without a doctors order if you wish.

Conversation and companionship

Socialization is very important to our mental and physical health. Whether it’s conversation and company, or just eating a meal together, having someone to sit and visit with can help make for a happier, healthier life.

Meal preparation and special diets

Many seniors do not have the opportunity to eat a well-balanced meal. Let our caregivers prepare a hot, delicious, nutritious meal. This service gives our clients the opportunity to eat the nutritious meals they need to enjoy healthier living.  We recognize that eating is a social activity and that good nutrition is important in order for people to live life to its fullest. It is especially important for a person whose body is in a weakened condition. Proper foods give us energy to carry out the day’s activities, are necessary to rebuild body tissue, prevent disease and are essential to any healing process.

Light housekeeping

Vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms to include sinks, showers, tubs and toilet, cleaning kitchens, sinks, appliances, counters, taking out the trash, straightening all rooms, organizing closets and drawers, cleaning any interior windows that can be reached without a ladder. CareGivers Plus has housekeepers on staff especially for our client whose current needs are met with light housekeeping duties and are not in need of a caregiver yet.

Errand Services and grocery shopping

Caregivers will shop with or without the client accompanying them. They can shop at any store the client prefers. Errands may include post office, holiday shopping, grocery shopping, etc.

Respite or relief for family

Rest and relief for family members who are assisting with the care of their loved ones is very important. Caregivers Plus can provide respite services so you can run errands, go shopping or get some much-needed rest.

Medication Reminders

Although our caregivers cannot administer medications they can assist the individual who shares in the responsibility of taking their own medication. Assisting with opening medication containers or medpaks, reading labels and reminding the person to take their medications are all ways in which we can assist. Our caregivers will observe and document that medications have been taken.

Transportation Assistance

Nurse aides can make appointments for client and assist clients on and off the transit service shuttle. Can also accompany client while on the transit to various appointments. (Additional transportation services may be arranged, please contact an office staff member for further details for your specific needs.)

Laundry and linen washing

This can be done in either the client’s home or the Laundromat, includes washing, drying and putting things away.

Recreational activities and crafts

Whether it’s cards, board games, or a walk in the park, Caregivers Plus can help our clients stay active in mind, body and spirit. We also can take the client out to enjoy their favorite activities.

Mail assistance and organization

We can assist the client in separating the junk mail from the important mail, and let them know when bills are due.

Periodic review and communication with family

On a recurring basis we can contact the family to discuss how things are going, answer any concerns or redefine any services that may be needed. This is a great service for clients whose families live far away and may not be in daily contact with their loved ones

Care Calls

This service is perfect for our clients who do not need daily or regular home visits yet, or for those family members and supports who are very busy or live out of the area. Managing care for a loved one from a distance can be difficult especially from different time zones. CareGivers Plus offers Care Calls as an alternative or even in addition to regularly scheduled visits. This is an additional service available to our clients. A Care Call schedule can be arranged where in an office staff member will make regular wellness check calls and can alert family when a concern arises or a client cannot be reached. Contact an office staff member for further details.

Live-In Care and 24-Hour Care

Live-in care means the caregiver lives in the home most of the week, and may only leave on their days off or to accompany the client. They may be replaced by another live-in caregiver on their days off. They have their own bedroom, and sleep at night when the care-receiver is sleeping. All live-in caregivers require a break during the day and during the week and will have days off. There is usually more than one caregiver assigned to a live-in case if 7 day coverage is needed. Live-in care is not appropriate for everyone but works well for clients who are still independent with minimal to moderate assistance. Hourly caregivers do not live in the home and are instead scheduled in shifts. Hourly services may be more appropriate for seniors who need 24/7 attention, cannot be left alone and need the caregivers to be awake at night. We can help you decided which option is best for your situation.

Transferring and positioning

Moving or placing a person into a correct posture position encourages the functional activity of the body’s many systems. It assists in eliminating pressure areas on the skin, reducing atrophy and stiffening of muscles, encourages proper breathing, digestion, and elimination.

Incontinence care

Urinary or bowel incontinence can be embarrassing and troublesome and can become unsanitary if not taken care of correctly. Our caregivers understand the sensitivity of this situation and approaches to caring for individuals who need assistance.

Our caregivers strive to provide an acceptable, comfortable and safe environment for all types of toileting needs.

We understand that it is usually hard for an adult to accept the idea of not being able to feed themselves. The reasons are varied, however the sense of loss of independence is real. Our caregivers understand the feelings this can cause and take the extra effort to make the environment and mealtime special.

Oral hygiene

Proper mouth, teeth, denture and gum care are essentials to good oral and dental hygiene. Daily oral care can prevent bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease and assist in prevention of other diseases.
